Club Elections
NOMINATING COMMITTEE CHAIR: SHIRLEY WILLIAMS
We have five positions that are elected by you, the members. All of these positions are open, and any member can run. The remaining board positions are filled by the President. These are the Chairs of both Standing and Special Committees. This is the time to get more involved in YOUR club. The Virginia Beach Shag Club is fortunate to have had a strong board and membership. We’ve enjoyed positive growth, and we are financially stable. Could we do more? Absolutely, but it takes volunteers, new thoughts and ideas to make it happen. Jack Witzenfeld, President, VBSC
President
Provides leadership to the Board by serving as the chairperson of the Board and point of contact for board members. Leads the Board and ensures their involvement in carrying out the governance functions and duties. Assigns committee chairs and committee members.
Vice President
In the absence of the President, the Vice President performs the duties of the President. Receives, investigates, and reports on grievances of the membership. Maintains Bylaws, Standard Operating Procedures, VBSC History, List of Board and Committees Chairs. Conducts other such duties as outlined in the by-laws or as directed by the President.
Secretary
Records the minutes of all board and membership meetings. Ensures the records, policies, and procedures of the organization are appropriately maintained and made available to members.
Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for keeping full and accurate accounts of all income (receipts) and expenses (disbursements or checks). Ensures funds are secured, deposited, invested, spent and reported according to the Board’s policies and procedures. Ensures compliance related to tax and other required filings. Ensures the Board fulfills its fiduciary and oversight duties.
Nominating Committee Chair
Leads the Board approved election and voting process and verifies the vote count at the Annual Meeting of the Membership.

September: Announcement of Candidates- COMPLETED (SEP 10th)
October: Candidates may speak to general membership- COMPLETED (OCT 22nd)
November 5th (at Mix & Mingle): Election of officers- COMPLETED (NOV 5th)
